Michael Brandt is an award winning American author, techno-thriller writer, and an extreme adventurer. Michael has run marathons and mountain climbed on the seven continents, and traveled to the four corners of the world visiting over ninety countries. Michael is a decorated retired LAPD homicide detective of 29 years, who writes short stories for anthologies and destination travel articles for magazines and newspapers and is a published photographer. Michael’s professional career includes writing manuals, training material and curriculum development for a national anti-fraud investigators academy. He has been a guest speaker numerous times at health care anti-fraud conferences and writer’s clubs around the nation. Michael’s favorite author since 1958 is Ernest Hemingway.
Rosi Hollinbeck
Rosi writes mostly for children, but occasionally writes for adults. With a middle-grade novel, a young adult novel, and several picture book manuscripts complete, all she needs is to find a publisher. (Don’t we all?) Her work has appeared in Highlights, High Five, and Humpty Dumpty magazines. She writes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Her story-poem “The Monster Hairy Brown” was published in Thynks Publishing (London) anthology 50 Funny Poems for Children. Several of her short pieces have won contests including second place in a recent CWC contest. She has two pieces scheduled for publication in 2018 — an excerpt of her novel The Incredible Journey of Freddy J. will appear in the Noyo River Review, and her children’s story “Jack Grants a Wish” will appear in the March issue of High Five Magazine. Cheryl Stapp
Cheryl Anne Stapp writes nonfiction California history. She is the author of Wild Wicked Woman – The Life of a Gold Rush Courtesan (2022); Rise, Ruin & Restoration – A History of Sutter’s Fort (2018); award-winning Before The Gold Rush – The Sinclairs of Rancho del Paso 1840-1849 (2017); award-winning Disaster & Triumph: Sacramento Women, Gold Rush Through the Civil War (2012); Sacramento Chronicles – A Golden Past (2013); and The Stagecoach in Northern California: Rough Rides, Gold Camps, and Daring Drivers (2014). A graduate of California State University, Northridge, Cheryl was a contributing editor to Working World magazine in Los Angeles for five years, while working in the entertainment industry. She lives with her husband in Sacramento—in bygone days an important gold rush town, and the largest staging center in the nation. She is a volunteer docent at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. Virginia A. Simpson
Virginia A. Simpson, Ph.D. FT, is a Bereavement Care Specialist with more than 30 years of experience working with the dying and grieving. She holds a Fellowship in Thanatology from the Association for Death Education & Counseling (ADEC), and is the Executive Counseling Director for hundreds of funeral homes throughout the United States and Canada. Simpson’s articles have appeared in publications throughout the world.
In 2016, Dr. Simpson’s first book, The Space Between: A Memoir of Mother-Daughter Love at the End of Life was published.
